About this resource

A creative, educational project that invites educators and pupils to think globally. Via this website you can find out more about this project, which takes the form of a jam-packed whole day school workshop exploring the geography of the Amazon. Pupils are invited to make connections with other schools and an indigenous community in Brazil. The project was born out of discussions between an experienced geography teacher in the UK, with a firm interest in global issues and the Amazon, and a Brazilian animator with a lot of experience of producing films around education for sustainability and extensive travel throughout the Amazon.

Why we recommend this resource

Some of the initial questions educators may have are clearly answered on the website: the workshop can be virtual or in situ and as a multi-schools or single-school initiative. It generally comprises the same format and content but things may be tweaked slightly to accommodate older or younger pupils, the timings of the school day, any restrictions posed by Covid-19, etc.

The website also includes information that will help educators facilitate learning about the Amazon independently, for example, the Blog section provides an insight into the content of the workshops and includes interesting images and links.
