About this resource

Inspired by the Bristol Gulls row across the Atlantic, teams can plan a journey that starts and finishes anywhere and be made by land or sea (or both) but not by air. Teams must design a vehicle that enables all passengers to be self-sufficient throughout the journey, and take on the challenge of being as sustainable as possible.

Why we recommend this resource

This is a really creative challenge that enables young people to work together using skills in design, engineering and creativity to meet a sustainability challenge. There’s also the chance for all participants to join in a celebration event at the end.
